Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, SLC, UT – Rocky Mountain Pooper Scoopers

Cruelty to animals is something that is stressed all year long, as it should be, but April is the month where the most emphasis is put on something that should never happen to dogs, cats, or animals to begin with. That’s why April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, a time when she should stop and take a moment to think about how we treat all creatures, both great, and small.

And while we are separate from animals this doesn’t justify being cruel to them. It’s our responsibility to speak up when we see injustice being carried out to the animals we share the planet with. Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month is about realizing that we have the ability to make a difference in the world simply by speaking up when no one else will.

Why is This Month So Important?

  • Beauty is overrated

Did you know that millions of animals are used to test medication and makeup every year? When products are tested on animals, it warps their skin with sores as well as chemical burns. It’s not just rats that are tested either, labs also use dogs, cats and rabbits as well.

  • Violent behavior

When an animal is abused it is often a sign of something more serious taking place deep down inside a human being. There is overwhelming evidence from the FBI to back this up. Many serial killers have a history of animal abuse in their background.

  • Life saving information

We’ve mentioned this before and we’ll say it again—never leave an animal in a hot car. Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month is a good time to spread the word about how hot it gets inside in a car. Thousands of dogs die every year when their owners leave them alone in hot cars.

How can you observe Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month?

  • Buy eggs from cage free chickens and beef from grass fed cows

When we buy cruelty free products it helps support companies that make an effort to treat animals with respect. These products are also said to be much better for us because they don’t dyes or artificial growth hormones.

  • Adopt don’t shop

Adopting is better than purchasing an animal from a puppy mill or a dog breeder. Dogs born from puppy mills and breeders aren’t always born under the best of conditions. Dogs that are mutts also tend to live longer and healthier lives than purebred dogs.

  • Volunteer

Nearly half of all animals surrendered to shelters around the United States are euthanized every year. Shelters don’t have the money or the space to save every animal that walks through the door. This often forces them to euthanize some animals in favor of others.

Remember, however, that you don’t need to wait until April to speak up. If you see injustice being done to animals, don’t hesitate to report it. You might just save the life of an animal living near you. For more information about animal cruelty visit aspca.orgto learn how you can prevent animals from being mistreated.
