National Dress up Your Pet Day is celebrated ever year on January 14. As pets are considered part of the family, this day was created as a special day to celebrate not only our pets, but the pet fashion world as well. Choose an outfit that is both safe and comfortable for your pet and if your pet is unhappy in his outfit, please don’t force him to wear it. Allow him to sit out and watch the other pets in their outfits and try again next year. If your dog or cat likes to chew on things avoid an outfit that has loose or dangling pieces that might be choking hazards. Another thing to be aware of is that their outfit fits well. Restricting movement or ability to breathe can cause injury or illness.
How to celebrate? If your dog happens to be a canine fashionista, buy him/her a new outfit and head out for an afternoon on the town. Take a walk around the neighborhood to see other outfits the neighborhood dogs might be wearing or visit a pet friendly establishment near you to show off your pets’ new attire.
