As a dedicated dog owner and a regular reader here, you already understand that picking up after your dog is part of responsible pet ownership. While it’s certainly not the most enjoyable task and often falls low on the priority list, it’s still essential for maintaining a clean and healthy yard. Fortunately, you don’t have to stress about it because you’ve chosen Rocky Mountain Pooper Scoopers. You’ve gone ahead and booked your first appointment, but then you step outside and notice your yard isn’t exactly ready. Dog toys are scattered around, the grass is longer than it should be, and things feel a bit out of order. I recently spoke with Brian Winterton, the owner of Rocky Mountain Pooper Scoopers here in Utah, and he shared a few important things every customer should know before their scheduled service.
To complete your appointment successfully, our employees must be able to enter your yard without any obstacles. Please ensure your gate is unlocked and opens properly. If your gate requires a keypad code, be sure we have the correct one before your appointment. Should you need a lock, simply let us know—locks are provided at no cost, and we’re always happy to bring one during your next visit. For security reasons, we cannot be held responsible for keys mailed to us that do not arrive. If our team is unable to access your yard, the appointment will need to be rescheduled, and the scheduled service fee will still apply.
Keeping your grass trimmed is another important part of preparing for your pooper scooper service. When grass becomes too tall or weeds take over, locating dog poop becomes significantly more difficult for our pooper scoopers. Overgrown lawns can also attract insects, including mosquitoes, which are common in many parts of Utah during warmer months. Before your upcoming appointment, please make sure your lawn has been mowed and your yard is reasonably organized so our team can work efficiently.
We also ask that all trash, clutter, and debris be cleared from your yard prior to service. Excess items make it harder for our employees to do their jobs properly and safely. For example, if they need access to your water spigot, trash or yard clutter could prevent them from finding it. Additionally, piles of debris can attract bugs and insects, which we aim to avoid. Please take a few moments to remove and dispose of any trash so your service can be completed without unnecessary delays.
Your dog is welcome to remain in the yard while we clean, provided they are not aggressive. The safety of our employees is always our top priority. If there is any concern about your dog’s behavior, we kindly ask that arrangements be made ahead of time. We also recommend keeping vaccination records available, just in case an incident such as a bite were to occur while our team is on-site.
After tidying up the ground level of your yard, it’s also a good idea to look upward. Check your trees for low-hanging branches that may interfere with movement throughout the yard. If branches are hanging too low or crossing power lines, please trim them or contact your local Utah utility provider to handle the issue safely. Overgrown branches can make navigating the yard more difficult and slow down the cleanup process.
