February is a busy month when it comes to pet health awareness as well as pet activities. From National Cat Health Month to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, we certainly have plenty of information we want to share with you. We don’t want you to miss a thing so be sure to read our blog often for the latest information about your favorite feline and/or favorite canine companion(s).
Today, however, we’re going to highlight some of the fun stuff that will take place throughout the month. From dog shows, to cat shows, this is the place to turn to for anything involving the cuteness of animals.
Dog Bowl
For the first time ever, Animal Planet is airing a one-time special that begins at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 3. The Dog Bowl will highlight older canines that are in need of furever homes.
Puppy Bowl 2018
Puppy Bowl began fourteen years ago as an alternative to the Super Bowl. Those who don’t care for football can tune into Animal Planet to watch two teams of adopted puppies go tail to tail in non-stop canine action.
This year, Team Ruff and Team Fluff will attempt to play a game of puppy football in the Animal Planet Stadium while the action is broadcast by both “repawter” and “rufferee.”
The puppies taking part in this year’s Puppy Bowl were all rescued from natural disasters that took place in 2017, places like Houston, Texas, Florida and even Puerto Rico. Puppies were rescued from forty-eight animal shelters and rescue organizations from 25 U.S. States and territories alike.
Puppy Bowl 2018 will take place on Sunday, February 4. It begins at 3 p.m. ET on Animal Planet. Pre-game action and commentary begins at 8 a.m. that Sunday morning if you’re up that early and if you miss the original broadcast you can catch it again the evening. Animal Planet will rerun Puppy Bowl at six o’clock that night. Visit animalplanet.com for more information.
Kitten Bowl V
Kitten Bowl V is more than just kitten cuteness on the big screen. It’s also about the awareness of kitten adoption and how important it is to have your cat spayed or neutered. Events begin at 12/11 CST on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Just like the puppies in this year’s Puppy Bowl, Kitten Bowl participants were also rescued from the most recent natural disasters that took place here in the United States. Tune into Hallmark Channel to hear Feline Football League Commissioner Boomer Esiason give the play-by play of all the action taking place on the football field. Visit http://www.hallmarkchannel.com to meet the kittens or to watch highlights of the days’ events.
Westminster Kennel Annual Dog Show
Events for the Westminster Kennel Dog Show begin on Saturday, February 10, with the 5th Annual Masters Agility Competition and AKC 9th Annual Meet the Breeds in New York, City. Results will air on Sunday February 11 from 2:00 until 4:30, ET, on Fox. Check your local listings if you’re interested in watching the results. Later on that night, tune into Nat Geo Wild to watch The Road to Westminster, a behind the scenes look at dogs and dog owners as they travel down the road to this prestigious dog show.
The rest of the show is divided up between two days—Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13. For a complete listing of events, times, and television stations that will air coverage, visit: http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org.
2018 American Rescue Dog Show
Last but certainly not least is a dog show that is being broadcast for the first time, ever. Be sure not to miss the American Rescue Dog Show set to take place on Monday, February 19, at 8:00/7:00 CST on Hallmark Channel. The competition includes both mixed breed as well as pure bred rescue dogs that will compete in a variety of events all with the goal of ending the plight of homeless dogs living in shelters throughout the United States. Meet the dogs, see their photos and learn more about the show at http://www.hallmarkchannel.com.
